VFIS Introduces

“Managing Volunteer and Combination Emergency

Service Organizations”

To aid volunteer and combination emergency service organizations with management and administrative assistance, VFIS has developed Managing Volunteer and Combination Emergency Service Organizations: Tips for the Fire Department CEO.

Times have changed, and so has the mission of most ESOs. It is important for today’s CEO to not only know how they are changing and functioning, but how to assist the organization during times of transition. This resource guide reviews 17 key areas of fire department management, including budgeting, by-laws, strategic planning and more. The guide is based on critical management and leadership skills for today’s CEO.

The Managing Volunteer and Combination Emergency Service Organizations: Tips for the Fire Department CEO project includes 18 chapters from various authors, and was edited by VFIS Education and Training Services Executive Vice-President Dr. William Jenaway. Chapter authors include emergency service contemporaries such as Chief John Buckman, Chief Daniel G.C. Gardiner, marketing management expert Ben May, Dr. Vincent McNalley, CFSI Executive Director Bill Webb, and many others.

Managing Volunteer and Combination Emergency Service Organizations: Tips for the Fire Department CEO is available in CD-ROM format and may be ordered by contacting VFIS of Colorado at 800-783-3844, ext. 215.
