The Colorado State Fire Chiefs’ Association has entered into an agreement with YTB Travel Network, a leading on-line travel agency, to provide our own travel website. Governor’s Office Issues New Flag Policy

 

March 6, 2008 – Gov. Ritter’s Office today announced a revision to the Governor’s Flag Policy.  This revision was done to clear up any confusion that existed concerning the governor’s policy on lowering of the U.S. and State of Colorado flags for the line-of-duty death of a firefighter or law enforcement officer. 


Governor Ritter Appoints Firefighter Training and Certification Advisory Board

 

March 4, 2008 – Gov. Bill Ritter today appointed the Fire Service Training and Certification Advisory Board The purpose of the board is to advise the Director on the administration of the voluntary fire service education and training program within the Colorado Division of Fire Safety and the voluntary firefighter and first responder certification programs. 


Representative Witwer Honored by Fire Chiefs Association

 

Centennial – At their quarterly meeting held on Friday, March 14, 2008, the Colorado State Fire Chiefs’ Association (CSFCA) honored Representative Rob Witwer (R-Genesee) for his contributions to fire and life safety during the 2007 legislative session. 


Homeland Defense Equipment Reuse Program

 

Emergency responder agencies can acquire, at no charge, radiological detection instrumentation, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), e.g., Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and turnout gear, and safety, response and recovery equipment, vehicles, and apparatus through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Grants and Training (G&T) Homeland Defense Equipment Reuse (HDER) Program.  These equipment resources can potentially enhance ESS critical infrastructure protection activities as well as organizational readiness.  


Focus on the Hometown Heroes Survivors Benefits Act

 

In 2003, Congress passed the Hometown Heroes Survivors Benefits Act, which the President signed into law. The purpose of this act was to ensure that the families of public safety officers who died in the line of duty due to a heart attack or stroke would receive benefits under the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)’s Public Safety Officers’ Benefits (PSOB) program. 


State of Colorado Emergency Resource Inventory Website

Need to Update Information

 

The State of Colorado Emergency Resource Inventory website was developed to support the Colorado State Emergency Resource Mobilization Plan (CSERMP). In order for the website to be of value to all users, the data must be maintained current. The Division of Fire Safety asks the individual agencies to log onto the website and update their information whenever contact or resource changes are made, and at least annually. 


"Members Helping Members" Directory Published

 

The recently adopted Strategic Plan for the Colorado State Fire Chiefs’ Association (CSFCA) calls for the development of a Technical Advisory Group, or a "Members Helping Members" network. The first draft of the "Members Helping Members" Network Directory has been published and posted to the CSFCA website. 


MSEC / CSFCA Wage and Benefit Survey Available

 

For the sixth year, Mountain States Employers Council, Inc. was requested by the Colorado State Fire Chief’s to act as a third party data collector to conduct a salary and benefits survey for fire protection agencies throughout Colorado.  The survey has been compiled and published and is ready for distribution.
