Youth fireplay and
firesetting remains an important concern in the U.S.
which requires understanding and systematic
prevention and intervention efforts. Recent
reviews of fire incidents reveal that fire is
sometimes used to harass others and as a tool of
revenge. This presentation will review the
motivations of youthful firesetters and bullying
dynamics and discuss creative interventions when
firesetting is motivated by bullying dynamics. |

will explore the continuum of firesetting behavior
and the relationship to parenting ranging from how
parenting issues relate to fire play and how abuse
and neglect predict recidivism with the overall goal
of highlighting the role and needs of an effective
caregiver. |
